H.E. Chhay Rithisen attends the official inauguration of National Road 10 as an honored guest
Pursat Province: On Thursday morning, October 1, 2026, H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, attended as an honored guest the ceremony to officially open National Road No. 10 for public use, presided over by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, together with H.E. Wang Wentian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia.
National Road 10 was constructed over 66 months, with work beginning concurrently with the inauguration of National Road 55 on March 9, 2020, and construction substantially completed in May 2025. The total construction cost was approximately USD 252 million, financed through cooperation between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and Cambodia’s national budget framework. The road has a total length of nearly 200 kilometers, from National Road 57-7 at kilometer marker 35+900 in Kanchang Village, Seung Commune, Samlot District, Battambang Province (about 32 km in Battambang), passing through Pramor Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province (about 99 km in Pursat), to National Road 48 at kilometer marker 1+700 in Smach Meanchey Quarter, Khemara Phoumin City, Koh Kong Province (over 67 km in Koh Kong).
Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that National Road 10 will generate significant economic benefits by reducing travel time and transportation costs, as it links three provinces—Battambang, Pursat, and Koh Kong. The road will become an important connector for agriculture, travel, and tourism, integrating territories and energizing key economic flows across Cambodia’s central, northern, southwestern, and northeastern regions, while offering more options for the public.
He further emphasized that beyond strengthening Cambodia’s internal transport network, this road has been and will continue to enhance tourism potential along its corridor, which features beautiful natural scenery, mountain cliffs, valleys, and numerous stream areas that many citizens had never previously visited.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister affirmed that putting National Road 10 into service is another new success in the Royal Government’s campaign to expand the transport system and reinforce national logistics under the slogan “Roads are the foundation of domestic integration and development toward community.” The goal is to raise living standards and well-being nationwide by accelerating the integration of Cambodia’s industrial sectors, especially small and medium enterprises and handicrafts, into supply chains and boosting the competitiveness and diversification of Cambodia’s economy.
