Siem Reap: On Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026, H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, attended as a guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the 39th World Conference of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and the 42nd Annual Meeting of the OB‑PS community, presided over by Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Her Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia. The events are being held at the Sokha Siem Reap Hotel in the Angkor area, with participants from 153 countries across WAGGGS’ five regions, Asia Pacific, Europe, Arab, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere.

The World Conference is the supreme governing forum of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), convened every three years. It brings together leaders and delegates from member organizations worldwide to discuss, review, and adopt key policies, set strategic direction, and strengthen international cooperation to advance the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement and empower girls and young women. In parallel, the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Olave Baden‑Powell Society (OB‑PS) the international supporters’ network of WAGGGS is being held alongside the Conference. The OB‑PS meeting gathers members, supporters, and stakeholders from many countries to deepen friendship and international collaboration, sustain financial support for WAGGGS, and share updates on WAGGGS’ work, impact, and priorities in supporting girls and young women around the world.
